Final Decision: Connected Underwriting

In summer 2023, I interned on Appian's Insurance Underwriting squad, where I owned the design of the “Final Decision” feature from discovery through delivery. The feature streamlines the final stage of the life insurance review process by consolidating the many systems, tasks, and business rules an underwriter must navigate when making a decision on a case. To ensure the workflow reflected real underwriting needs, we partnered with a Swiss Re underwriting manager with 20+ years of experience and other industry experts to test and validate our designs.
