Final Decision: Connected Underwriting

In summer 2023, I interned on Appian's Insurance Underwriting squad, where I owned the design of the “Final Decision” feature from discovery through delivery. The feature streamlines the final stage of the life-insurance review process by consolidating the many systems, tasks, and business rules an underwriter must navigate when making a decision on a case. To ensure the workflow reflected real underwriting needs, we partnered with a Swiss Re underwriting manager with 20+ years of experience and other industry experts to test and validate our designs.
